History of Caliterra
The Caliterra Winery was founded in 1996 as a result of the collaboration between the Robert G. Mondavi family and Viña Errázuriz, who wanted to realize their common dream of producing quality wines that reflect the full potential of Chile's nature, terroir and fruit. Caliterra stands for the connections between the Spanish words "calidad" (quality) and "tierra" (land). Caliterra also stands for a passionate commitment to the environment, a sustainable winegrowing philosophy and a return to the Chilean roots and traditions of Colchagua. Caliterra wines celebrate the land, the people, pure nature and the legacy to future generations.

Caliterra wines
Tributo
With tribute, Caliterra honors the quality and diversity of there soil, there people and all the details that come together in perfect harmony to create an exceptional wine. Each bottle is a unique example of the Caliterra philosophy because it reflects the harmony between the environment and the honest work of man in the vineyard. This first-class wine line is the result of a tireless search and striving for the highest quality.
Reserva
The Reserva wine line includes youthful and elegant wines. They are distinctive, tasteful and fruity wines that can be enjoyed on any time.
Edition Limitada
A trilogy wich is limited in numbers. The Edition Limitada wines tell a story to be explored, using the most characteristic grape varieties such as Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon and vineyards of the estate to create wines with deep respect for their origins. This trio of blends - Bordeaux, Mediterranean and Andean styles - is an interpretation of different wine regions in Chile and the wine world, all of which have an exceptional character.
Cenit
The Caliterra flagship owes its name to the highest point in the sky. Every December 21st, the southern hemisphere experiences the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. This is the day when the sun reaches its zenith (cenith in Spanish) over the vineyard. Caliterra honors this day by creating the ultimate cuvée. The Cenit is the synergy of the best characteristics of each grape variety selected for this wine.
The red wine cuvée rests for 24 long months in French oak barrels. A long aging period that allows this wine to develop the highest elegance and complexity.

Caliterra wines are as diverse like the region.
Vineyards of Caliterra
The famous Colchagua Valley, located in the O'Higgins region, is characterized by its geography, the great variety of soils and the Mediterranean climate. Cool nights and gentle winds blowing from the Pacific and Andean coasts make this region an ideal location for the production of high quality red wines.
Country estate Caliterra
The Colchagua Valley is the home of our Caliterra Winery, located 200 km south of Santiago and 60 km from the coast, 150 meters above sea level. The vineyards today cover 210 hectares of vineyards and were first planted in 1997.

The most important grape varieties are:
- Merlot
- Carmenere
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Syrah
- Malbec
- Petit Verdot
- Viognier
Of the original plantations, 55 hectares are now organically farmed, where Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Carmenere are grown. In order to better exploit the potential of the winery, many slopes have been planted with vineyards. The soils, of medium texture, ranging from loamy-clayey to sandy-clayey, are rich in minerals and allow the production of wines of very different typicities.
